Leanne Shannon Bio
Leanne Shannon has just completed her Masters of Social Work program at the University of Calgary. She has a passion for working with families and has finished her final practicum placement at the Calgary Family Therapy Centre where she has become excited about family therapy, narrative therapy and social construction. Upon graduation she hopes to work in the field of family therapy specializing in families who have children with special needs.
Leanne’s research has focused on the lived experience of mothers who have children with special needs and has culminated in the writing of “Re-STORY-ing Hope: Autoethnography and mothering a child with Asperger’s Syndrome. Leanne plans to merge her interest in relevant and practical research with her family therapy practice to create innovative and accessible programming for families who have children on the Autism spectrum.
Leanne is married to Tim and is blessed with three children, Brennan (13 years), Nolan (10 years) and Katie (8 years). They enjoy camping, cross-country skiing, hiking and playing on the beach.
