Annual General Meeting Minutes of October 1, 2009
Note: these minutes wil be presented to for approval by membership at the AMI Annual General Meeting of October 13, 2010.
Call to Order: 5:35 pm
Attendance: Gene Semchych, Anne Kresta, Andrea Villeneuve, Marina Smoluk, Ryan Smoluk, Janet Thompson, Jeremy Strub, Heather Smithson, Charlene Walberg, Janine Montgomery, Carla Kehler, Bev Larmour, Vanessa Kimball
Regrets: Nancy Boomer, Paul Saranchuk
Motion: To accept the minutes of the 2008 Annual General Meeting (Heather, Bev) carried.
Motion: To accept the annual report as submitted by Gene (Bev, Heather) carried.
Motion: To accept the audited financial statement as submitter (Heather, Janine) carried.
Discussion: there is a need to find sustaining funding for the organization as funds from our initial grant from Investors Group are dwindling.
Motion: To appoint Tony Gautier from Craig and Ross as the auditor for the coming year (Heather, Anne) carried.
Motion: To accept the amended and updated board bylaws as submitted (Anne, Janet) carried.
Motion: To accept Nancy Boomer, Charlene Walberg and Jeremy Strub as new members of AMI’s board of directors, bringing the total number of board of directors up to 12 (Anne, Andrea) carried. This change was described in the updated board bylaws and will increase the strength of AMI’s infrastructure.
Motion: To accept Anne, Janet and Andrea for term renewal on the board of directors (Bev, Janine) carried.
The board of directors wish to extend their thanks to both Heather Smithson and Paul Saranchuk as they leave the board. Their contributions were great and their presence will be missed.
AMI thanked Investors Group, Dr. Jon Gerrard and many others who have provided ongoing support to AMI as the organization continues to develop to fill the needs of children with AS, adults with AS and their families in Manitoba. Thanks were also extended to Jeremy Strub, Andrea Villeneuve, Heather Smithson, Hazel Birt for their facilitation of the various support and social groups that are run by AMI.
