Consultation on the Primary Health Care Experience of Persons with Disabilities

The Manitoba League of Persons with Disabilities is doing a research project to understand the experiences of people with disabilities have in receiving primary health care services – that is, health care from family doctors, general practitioners, or nurse practitioners.

 

We are conducting a consultation in your area and we would appreciate it if you could attend.  The consultation is open to men and women with disabilities or chronic health problems, and those who provide care to them.

 

There are 2 consultations in Winnipeg:

Date: Wed., Sept. 5, 2012 Date: Tues., Sept. 25, 2012
Time: 4 – 6 p.m. Time: 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.

ASL, Large Print and Attendant services will be available.

Celebrating Abilities

Volunteers Needed for Archival Website Research Study

Lisa Snider is doing a study to look at archival websites, inform archivists about the possible barriers on their websites, and educate them on how to make their websites more accessible and usable for all viewers.  She is particularly interested in increasing awareness about website accessibility in archival environments.

 

If you are an adult (18+) who self identifies as having a disability please consider participating in this study.

AMI Summer Picnic

Join us for our annual summer picnic!

 

Date: July 12, 2012

Time: 5:00-8:00pm, with food served at 5:30pm

Location: River Heights Community Centre (1370 Grosvenor Ave)

 

Join us for the annual summer potluck picnic with AMI.  We ask that you please bring an appetizer, salad or main course to share.  AMI will provide beverages and dessert!

 

Outside there is a splashpad  and playground for kids.  Some members, if weather permitting, are going to meet earlier in the day at the splash pad.

Caregivers of Children & Teens September 2012-June 2013 Meeting Dates

Starting in September 2012 the Caregivers of children support group is going to have two different groups on the same evening.  The two groups will be Caregivers of Children and Caregivers of Teens.  We feel that the division of these two groups will help parents find support in groups that meet their specific needs.  When there are speakers booked, the two groups will meet together for the presentations.

 

The meetings will be on following dates:

 

August 22 – Combined meeting – speaker on massage therapy

September 26

October 24

November 28

January 23

February 27

March 20

April 24

May 22

June 26

 

The meetings are 6:30-8:30pm.  Each meeting takes place at SMD (825 Sherbrook).  There is ample parking in the lot across from the building, please remember to sign in & out at the front desk.  For more information please email us as info@asperger-manitoba.ca
